There ought to be a word to describe the situation where someone is so taken by a current event, partially because their name is involved, that it influences their career choice. For example, a young girl in elementary school named Valerie happens to read about the ruckus surrounding Valerie Plame and, because it concerns a woman whose name matches her own, eventually becomes a CIA operative. Or, hurricane Katrina. Meteorologist perhaps? The likelihood that someone would become so interested in the situation that it impacted their career choice or resulted in a career change probably depends very much on the rarity of the name. Certainly, there are so many Davids that a prominent David figure being caught up in some situation would be of no consequence. But an American boy named Vladimir and born to American-born parents might have a future in politics.
