One way gangs could help themselves is to have one or more of their members working for law enforcement. It would be a new take on the undercover operative. To be done correctly demands some time because the proper credentials would be necessary (proof of high school diploma, officers training, etc.) but the benefits would make it all worth the effort. Imagine the wealth of information available to someone who was part of the force. Or even, if they stayed in long enough to climb the ladder of administrative positions, the authority to make decisions that could contribute to the success of their own gang and/or the dissolving of rival gangs.
