Bargain deal publicity from car dealerships in small towns doesn’t make sense to me. I don’t drive or want to, so I’m no authority, but I’ve always thought that it is the brand of car, not the dealership, that determines which car someone will buy. So that paying for TV and radio air time to promote the cars on your lot is pointless if none of them are manufactured by the company a buyer is looking for. Sure, I see your commercial claiming best prices in town but I’m not going to buy anything off your lot because I want a Toyota. Now then, in a big city, where presumably the same cars are available at multiple dealerships, it’s actually logical to spend money promoting your own particular dealership.
