In all the landscaped grass areas on campus there are these tiny signs stuck into the ground resembling the kinds of flower identification cards you would expect to find in a greenhouse. Except these signs are bright yellow with black ink printed: CAUTION Pesticide Application Keep Off. There is also a diagram (in the style used by street and bathroom signs) of a man, child, and dog standing on the grass. And over this diagram is a diagonal bar as is found on no smoking signs. I can’t decide whether they’ve really applied pesticide and the signs are up in respect for public health or if they’re bluffing simply to discourage people from trampling the grass.
